My research focuses on the role of microbes,
particularly Bacteria and Archaea,
in oceanic biogeochemical cycling.
In particular, I study in situ:
- carbon production
- respiration
- fixation
- microbial transformation of carbon
between dissolved and particulate pools
I aim to obtain realistic rate measurements and a mechanistic understanding of how microbes live, interact, and drive biogeochemical processes, especially in the deep ocean.
